The largest Boomtown cities in any country in the United States

Boomtown. The word sounds like it describes an explosion - and in a sense, it is. Boomtowns are considered to be the fastest growing cities in America due to the rapid growth of businesses and populations. An example of such a place is Horizon West, Florida, which saw massive changes in the five- and eight-year percentages of the population, which stood at 113.72% and 222.30% respectively. In terms of numbers, the population jumped from 10,093 people in 2010 to 32,530 in 2018. Per capita income also increased from $ 32,800 to $ 38,050 during those eight years.

But Horizon West is not the only city it has. GOBankingRates has found one in every country by looking at changes in one population, five and eight years, owned housing units and per capita income of more than 1,700 cities. To qualify as a boom city on this list, cities had to populate less than 500,000 residents. So, some boom towns, like Omaha, Nebraska and New Orleans are fast approaching the same 500,000 threshold.
