For those unfamiliar with the differences, any Florida real estate agent who passes a real estate test becomes a Real Estate Associate Sales Agent and must register with a specific office and work under a Certified Broker who oversees his work.
To do a broker license, you must prove at least two years of experience as a Sales Associate and then apply for a broker license upgrade, give a fingerprint, take a 72-hour course, end-of-course test, state-level exam that includes 100 questions, plus 60 hours of another course. Only after the tests is the license upgraded to a broker license.
In Florida, 90% of Florida agents are sales associates and only 10% are brokers. By the way, anyone who decides to become a broker but does not open a real estate office himself but continues to work under another broker is called Broker Associate.
