And the real estate business?
Or in short, is there a connection between "breaking a guard" (a military term) and real estate entrepreneurship?
Let me explain to you how I see the connection.

I've been out more than once, falling asleep when I'm supposed to look after the children
(Not to worry they are already relatively large).
And yes I have a lot, but a lot of "excuses" how come I fall asleep like that on guard,
But that's another post already ?
And it's kind of like that every time I fall asleep something else happens ?
Sometimes I find their room upside down,
Because they were just looking for a game.
Sometimes I find the house messy because they made camp
Sometimes I find the house as I left it
And sometimes I find my back and face covered in paintings…
I have amazing children,
They will do anything not to wake me up and let me rest.
And that's exactly why I can not really be angry at them,
Because after all, I was the one who fell asleep on guard duty.

I'm sure some of you are now reading and laughing
Or raise smiles because it must have happened to you too
And there are those who think to themselves,
What is he now rattling us in the mind…
What is the connection between this and real estate?
Wait it comes I promise.

I missed very good deals because I was "busy":
I was at a meeting when I knew I was supposed to answer e-mails
I was not at the computer / laptop even though I knew
That I should receive an important email about a deal.
I had to pay the contractor for a job he did not finish,
And promised that he would finish tomorrow but eventually fled and left
Us with an unfinished property and a hole in his pocket.
In another case, we paid the contractor for raw materials
Which he promised to purchase but they never came to the property.
I got rid of contractors for the poor work they did.
I got to fire my BOOTS ON THE GROUND,
After I discovered in retrospect that he was everything but being
My BOOTS ON THE GROUND.
And really did not do his job properly.
I got rid of realtors, because everything that interested them
It's just how they make money on me and were not really interested
In the transaction itself.
In other words, I went to sleep a few times on guard.
All the things I mentioned here,
I could have prevented it if I had not fallen asleep on guard duty
If only I were more attentive, careful,
Assertive or reading the map correctly.
I probably would not write this post here now.

On one occasion when I "guarded" my daughter.
Only my child is not two years old anymore
And she no longer needs close supervision.

I made these mistakes at the beginning of my career in the real estate business.
But I quickly turned my approach
And my senses became sharp.
At first, there were things I did not know and not necessarily who would guide me.
Or to be frank, I was swollen from ego and did not think there was anything
Learn in this field from others.
After all, I came from the high-tech world, I managed dozens of people under me
And projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars,
So some real estate seems small to me.
It's still small on me, only at the time my business was
At the beginning of the road and I had to understand it.
It was a mistake for me to behave at the beginning of the road

My luck is that I'm learning fast
So I changed my attitude, started to check where I was wrong
And my weak points.
I began to be more attentive, more cautious and assertive
Without taking into account "how I sound" or "how it looks"
I teach you the lesson I learned

The mistakes I made early on.

So friends do not fall asleep on guard!
Open your eyes, be attentive,
A little more suspicious and assertive and read the map correctly.
