    I went through exactly the same thing. Eviction, the tenant received an account of 4000 $ that illegally connected to the electricity grid and stole it.
    I asked the electric company why they contacted the police but did not inform me… They said there are laws of privacy.
    Great… They can steal electricity, change connections - but their privacy must be maintained.

    The account was in her name. Luckily for me.
